Welcome to the official website of the Japan Karate Shoto-Renmei Association Australia (JKS-Australia) and JKS-Wheelchair Karate-do Federation Australia (JKS-Wheelchair-Australia).
JKS Gympie Honbu Dojo was the first independent JKS Club in Australia that from 1st of August 2009 on has direct affiliation with the Japan Karate Shoto- Federation (JKS) in Japan.
Japan Karate Shoto-Renmei Association Australia (JKS-Australia) provides traditional karate training (non for profit) for the community and its families. Karate training is healthy for everyone and every age group. It improves people’s self confidence, spirit, focus, concentration and physical health and is ideal for learning self defence. We want to involve more people and children in sports/ self defence.
Since April 2010 we expanded our karate training also to disabled people in wheelchairs. We are the first karate club in Australia offering wheelchair karate!
The JKS Australia opened its doors to accommodate wheelchair karate courses as of the 24th of April 2010. Sensei Yamaguchi is Chief Instructor of JKS Japan and came to Gympie to teach JKS Gympie instructors first hand the way of wheelchair karate.
JKS-Australia is a registered non profit organization with clubs in Queensland and NSW and is dedicated in teaching JKS-Style Karate to its members.
We practice authentic traditional Japanese Karate as taught in Japan.
I am delighted to announce that Shuseki Shihan Kagawa Sensei will be visiting Australia in November 2016.
